Frequently Asked Questions

  • How To Get Started
Schedule a free 15 minute consultation with me. This is the time for you and I to talk about our services and decide if Approaching Change is the right place for you to receive counseling.
  • What Can I Expect During The First Counseling Session and Beyond?
The very first session is called an intake session. I want to get to know you so I’ll ask several questions about your reason for seeking counseling and make sure to answer any questions you may have about my practice policies, or how I conduct counseling sessions. From there, we’ll get right to work with creating a treatment plan and starting weekly sessions to help you work towards your goals.
  • Fees
The cost for each individual session is $125.
  • Insurance
Approaching Change does not accept insurance. We are an out-of-network care provider and will provide you with a super-bill (Statement for Insurance Reimbursement) so that you can submit receipts for possible reimbursement from your insurance company. I recommend that you contact your insurance company first as they can best answer your questions and concerns regarding coverage and reimbursement for mental health services.
  • Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
